Marriage covenant
A memory passed through my mind this morning, and I saw how I really don’t know what a human being can decide to do in life (the way of man is not in him, how to go in or to go out really~ Jeremiah 10:23) We should never trust personal/human reasoning in decision making. This is because a person can seem a certain way and then can get convinced by sin or by righteousness to do the opposite and there’s no telling if the person will yield or not. Thus, for will or for woe.
So I saw how to make a lifelong covenant, I can only safely make it with GOD. HE NEVER changes and is long suffering (even though HIS suffering has an end to it) So to make such a life long covenant one needs to make it with one who is connected to GOD. Also, hopefully that person continues to stay connected with GOD because it is moment by moment. If they or I waver from connecting with GOD who knows what will take place- can be lies, adultery- you name it. This is because apart from GOD who is the light, then dwells darkness and man is a slave to sin in that condition.
This is why the test of choosing is so important, and so much prayer is needed to be given to this process. We see the outward, GOD discerns the heart (1 Samuel 16:7) as says in Testimony Vol 5. “Though the companion of your choice were in all other respects worthy (which he is not), yet he has not accepted the truth for this time; he is an unbeliever, and you are forbidden of heaven to unite yourself with him. You cannot, without peril to your soul, disregard this divine injunction.. 5T 364.1
This is important because if he is now disregarding what GOD has to say, what does that tell you about him? Yes, he could be blindly disregarding, so leave that one alone and let him find sight first.
If he is rebellious towards GOD, what does that tell you of the person’s character?
Can the blind lead the blind? You want to be led? Only CHRIST can lead. You want someone good? Only GOD is good. So choose ye, one who is chosen to be surrendered to GOD, and even then keep each other accountable.
Honestly, one needs to unite with one who is united in CHRIST. Otherwise to unite with one who is a slave to sin- a slave to the dictates of his/her flesh - how do you trust such a one. Remember: “woe upon the man who trusts in man, and makes flesh his stronghold”
Self is already corrupt. Can’t be trusted. Trust in GOD who never changes. CHRIST never sinned in the human body🙏
1 Peter 2:21-22 “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth”
There is hope. It is real, it is serious. Marriage is no joke.
