It is a moment by moment journey. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
To bear the fruit of the Spirit, self must be lost. It is not about you. Once it’s about you, the feelings get in place, and as a result when a person says something that you deem offensive, it will rise up the inclination to want the person to own up, or for you to show the person they are wrong and you won’t let them step on you. With that, when it’s about you, meekness cannot be cherished and cannot be shown to the other person.
It really takes the HOLY SPIRIT’s work in us, moment by moment. This is because, situations arise from nowhere, and they come across in such a way that in the flesh it would make sense not to be patient, make sense not to be kind, or consider that you have shown enough forbearance to the person too long so no more long suffering towards him/her.
It takes being born again, to execute the traits of GOD. The enemy, the flesh, the world do not cease until this great controversy is over, and because of that we thus need “new mercies everyday” Lamentations 3:22-23
Because sin is present with us in the flesh, we need the ever presence of GOD in our minds, to take control of every aspect. As AT Jones said it, “the battle begins in the realm of the thoughts” That is the reality. To overcome we need to practice 2 Cor 10:5 every moment.
Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of CHRIST
As the verse says, EVERY THOUGHT. It has to be that way, so that every thought is filtered through CHRIST. I mean, how amazing is that? That GOD is really truthful when He says He will fight our battles for us, but we need to know that we’re in a battle, to want victory, and thus in so believing, to really take every thought to HIM. Guess what? As a result, you and I are thus in direct communication with GOD every moment. How wonderful is that? You ever wonder has HE left you or forsaken you? Here’s a remedy to not have to worry, because if you’re bringing every thought to HIM, you’re also receiving feedback and thus guidance from HIM.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. - Ephesians 3:20-21
HE is able. It is left to us. The mind of CHRIST is what we will get to have if we do just what 2 Cor 10:5 asks us to do.
Now, when I first heard of what was being told to me about 2 Cor 10:5 it felt like a mountain and what a drudgery reality. This I came to later find out was sin in me speaking. “Sin renders us less capable, less inclined” “we all have an unregenerate nature that is not subject to GOD”
If you ever wondered if the Bible is true, then do this and you will see the resistance inside of you, and you’ll realize as the Bible says, “we are all one flesh” is so true. “We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD”
Therefore, the remedy is we have to be born of GOD. How often? Every day. Every moment abide in CHRIST. This is the only way, we’ll delight to do the will of GOD as the Psalmist said. Otherwise, the will of GOD is opposite to the natural man and thus, our natural response to the things of GOD is disbelief and not taking GOD seriously.
Someone once gave a good illustration- You know when you’re told your house is on fire, what do you do? You run, if you’re inclined to save anything in your house you do so. Call firefighters. Whatever maybe. The point is- there is an action to the report.
Thus, when you hear the message from GOD, what is your response? Do you just go about and say I believe and do nothing about it? Remember it says,
Even the demons believe and tremble. Therefore, that’s not enough. Seek the LORD earnestly, abide in HIM. Truly practice 2 Corinthians 10:5, which shows/indicates that one truly believes John 15:5 “without CHRIST we can do nothing” and that I believe that truly I have sin in me, and thus I need my LORD to save me from licensing my flesh to sin.
As we are asked in Romans 6:1-2
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
Do not wait for tomorrow, tomorrow is never promised. Today is the day of salvation.
Romans 13:11-14 says it all:
And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
